Gleaning Program: Gleaning is the recovery of fresh produce that farms donate to area food pantries and other distribution programs. Last year, we piloted the program in Georgetown, distributing fresh vegetables and fruit on a weekly basis. For the five months we operated the programs, we distributed all the produce we received (usually 3 or four banana box size crates) and could have used more if it was available. We will run the program next summer and hope to expand it.
Meals on Wheels
The Meals on Wheels program provides delicious, nutritionally balanced meals for homebound individuals 60 years of age or older and to persons with a disability who are unable to prepare a meal due to physical or mental limitations, or who have no one to prepare a meal for them. Meals on Wheels are delivered to homes by our dedicated volunteers and staff. This also provides an opportunity to check in on the meal recipient as a safety measure.
They also offer AniMeals to assist in feeding pets.
